Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is a multidisciplinary approach to deterring criminal behavior through environmental design. The concept is based on the idea that the physical environment can be designed to reduce opportunities for crime and enhance the quality of life. CPTED strategies include natural surveillance, access control, territorial reinforcement, and maintenance. These strategies aim to influence the behavior of people in a space, making it less attractive for criminal activities. The goal of CPTED is to reduce opportunities for crime that may be inherent.
