Webinar Summary

Teen drivers are regularly involved in automobile collisions, primarily because of their lack of experience on the road. This inexperience means teens often don’t recognize or know how to respond to hazards that lead to collisions. In fact, the fatal crash rate per mile driven by 16–17 year-olds is three times the rate of drivers 20 years-old and older. Skills for the Teen Driver’s goal is to share best practices for making teenagers safer drivers.

This 1-hour session reviews the extent of teen driving issues and legislative efforts to address the problem of teen driver collisions. It discusses vehicle safety technology, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems aimed at reducing crash frequency and vehicle monitoring systems that can help curb at-risk driver behaviors. Tips for selecting the safest vehicles for teens is included, along with best practices for teaching a teenager to drive. Distracted driving, cell phones and texting is addressed, as are common questions about automobile insurance for teenagers.

Note: This webinar is intended to provide a loss control perspective of the topic. Insurance coverage issues will not be covered during this webcast. If you have questions concerning coverage or insurability, please contact your insurance broker or underwriter.
