    Join us for an evening of celebration for the current cohort graduation and our 10-year celebration at The Barnes Museum.
Day 2 | December 12, 2024

  • AM Session | Leading through Culture in Tough Times | Mary-Hunter (“Mae”) McDonnell, JD, PhD | Wharton Business School
    This session will discuss tactics for using organizational culture to motivate teams during difficult times. We will review the latest research on the linkages between culture and strategic outcomes, highlighting the areas of culture that require the most attention and maintenance. We will also use applied case discussions to illustrate and discuss the challenges of motivating team members during periods of environmental uncertainty, large-scale organizational change like M&A, and multi-generational management.

Day 3 | December 13, 2024

  • AM Session | Trends, Best Practices & the Growing Role of Excess and Surplus Lines | Jonathan Fajen and E & S Team Members
    This half-day workshop explores the evolution and current state of personal excess and surplus lines coverage – a vital safety valve for the insurance industry. This hands-on session will cover topics ranging from the humble beginnings of excess and surplus lines as a niche product to its current standing as a critical component of personal insurance. Lay out some best practices to share with you team so that they too can be comfortable utilizing E & S solutions. During this session you can expect extensive group work utilizing case study to gain a diverse look at how solve insurance needs of modern consumers and address any gaps in traditional coverage. You can expect to gain valuable insight into the intricacies of excess and surplus lines and learn how it offers additional coverage options for niche and hard-to-place risks.

Pre-Program Preparation

All attendees must complete the two mandatory CAPI alumni webinars by November 27th in order to be eligible to participate in this in-person Alumni program.

Program Tuition

$750 tuition which includes the educational programs, and our 10th anniversary event on December 11th. You will be responsible for your hotel stay during this program, some meals will be included.

Upon completion of your registration, if you have indicated that you require a hotel room, a reservation will be automatically made for you for the nights of December 11th and 12th at:

You will receive your hotel confirmation directly from The Study via email in late November.  Upon check-in you will be asked for your credit card information.

Meals

The 10-year anniversary event on December 11th will include cocktails and dinner at The Barnes Museum. Breakfast and lunch will be at Steinberg Conference Center on December 12th.  Please refer to the program schedule for meal times. Please indicate any special dietary restrictions (e.g. religious, vegetarian, vegan) or food allergies when completing your registration form.

Cancellation Policy

A minimum 30 day notice is required to guarantee a full refund.  Please send cancellation requests to capi@chubb.com.  Include “Program Cancellation Request” in the subject line, and your original registration information in the message body along with the reason for the cancellation.

Duration

This 1 ½ day CAPI Alumni program will be taught as interactive workshops.

Attire

Casual business attire is appropriate for the program.

Faculty

Mary-Hunter (“Mae”) McDonnell, JD, PhD
Mary-Hunter (“Mae”) McDonnell is a Bantwal Family Goldman Sachs Presidential associate professor and an associate professor of management at the Wharton School. She holds a PhD in Management and Organizations from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management as well as a JD from Harvard Law School. Previously, she has held faculty positions at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and Northwestern University Law School.
Professor McDonnell studies organizational behavior and governance within challenging institutional contexts, such as contentious social environments and uncertain regulatory environments. She has published award-winning research in leading peer-reviewed scholarly journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, the American Sociological Review, Organization Science, the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Psychological Science, as well as law reviews including the Cornell Law Review and the Harvard Human Rights Journal. She currently serves on the editorial boards of Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, and the Academy of Management Journal. Click here to learn more about Mae McDonnell.

Dr. Cindy McGovern
Known far and wide as “Dr.Cindy” the First Lady of Sales, Dr. Cindy McGovern is the CEO of Orange Leaf Consulting and the author of the Wall Street Journal bestseller ‘Every Job Is a Sales Job: How to Use The Art of Selling to Win at Work’ and ‘Sell Yourself’. She speaks and consults internationally on sales, interpersonal communication, and leadership. Dr. Cindy holds a doctorate in organizational communication and has helped hundreds of companies and individuals create dramatic and sustainable growth. Dr. Cindy regularly coaches both professional sales employees and those whose jobs are not sales-related in an effort to help them both take advantage of opportunities to bring more business to their companies. Jonathan Fajen
Jonathan Fajen is a 16 year veteran of the E&S industry with a proven track record of success. He leads Chubb’s E&S practice, Chubb Custom, and is overseeing underwriting and its advancements in technology and operations. Prior to joining Chubb, he led underwriting at PURE Programs and where he built out their E&S practice. At the start of his insurance career, he held various positions at AIG and Lexington. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Brigham Young University and a MBA from Questrom School of Business, Boston University
