On September 20, 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 553 into California law. This legislation requires nearly all businesses (those with more than 10 onsite employees) in California to establish and maintain a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan. With compliance required by July 1, 2024, agents and brokers should be aware of the law, what it means for their clients, and how to help them become compliant.
This virtual session is designed to provide a core understanding of SB 553’s requirements, as well as an outline of Workplace Violence Prevention Plans and how they are implemented to meet California’s new statute.
The session will conclude with a discussion of Workplace Violence Expense Insurance, how it differs from other types of insurance, such as Employment Practices Liability, and its importance as a part of a well-rounded insurance risk management program.
